Get to know me ᵕ̈

Hi, I’m Julia! I’m a Graphic Designer from Montreal, Canada.

Education

I’m a soon-to-be graduate in Graphic and Web Design at John Abbott College. I plan on completing the UX Design Certificate at Concordia University in the near future. I’m looking forward to learn how to design user-friendly digital products with modern tools and methods. I’m also hoping to master collaboration, problem-solving and technical design skills while ensuring a user-centered approach. I’m considering taking front-end web development courses to expand my skillset as well.

Ideal Position

I’m currently looking for a full-time position where I can use my design skills and creativity to their full potential. I really enjoy branding, creating advertising material and designing/coding websites.

Background

Growing up, my favourite hobby was drawing and making DIY gifts for my family. I have always been referred to as “the artistic one” or “the creative one” throughout my whole life. Any flight or road trip I took as a kid, I always required 2 things to survive boredom: a sketchbook and pencils.

I’ve always had a creative side to me, but I also loved sciences. I pursued Mechanical Engineering at Concordia University wanting to combine both interests and work as a Product Designer. The intensive math and physics courses led me to put my creativity on the back-burner for a few years. However, my part-time job allowed me to explore retail merchandising where I created inspiration spaces using featured products. Even though I was working with live objects, the creative process was still quite similar to graphic design. This definitely helped me with my projects. My creativity spark has since come back and I’ve discovered my love for design. As much as I enjoyed interior design, graphic design is what really spoke to me after extensive research.

Choosing this program was the best decision I have made for myself. I feel like I’m thriving and this is definitely what I’m meant to be doing. I live with no regrets, everything I have gone through made me who I am today. I believe in detours, not in taking wrong paths.
